“All the happiness there is in this world arises from wishing others to be happy.” -Shantideva, quoted in The New Meditation Handbook
All our present and future happiness depends on our cherishing others - on our wanting others to be happy. This is real love, and the foundation of the compassion and wisdom that are the path to enlightenment. The immediate effect of cherishing others will be that many of our daily problems, such as those that arise from anger, jealousy, and selfish behavior, will disappear, and our mind will become calm and peaceful.
In these classes, Nancy will introduce the main Mahayana Buddhist meditations that are the path to enlightenment. Start at the beginning of the series if you can, but if you miss the beginning then start when you are able.
